Have had occasion to have 2 copies of a song and want to copy the MIDI and Light cues over to new version while maintaining old version.
I found that putting a 'dummy' memo that does nothing just titled 'Ready' at the very first of the song will prevent the cues from shifting to the left if you copy and paste the entire song program into alternate versions.
I also put an align cue. Like on the 4th click of a count in or any identifiable transient at the first of a song. Then if you have to remix to bump volume or any audio variable when you import the new version you can tell if are aligned to your song program.

Great idea to put in the align queue! I've had some issues with doing the "select all/copy/paste" feature. I'm doing that from now on - thanks for the tip!
Re: Copy & Paste Tip - Cue Shifting
Alignment cue keeps the audio track identical when I mix the song down from Logic. The render loop isn't always the same. So sometimes a song might be 4:59 one time and 5:01 the next. The alignment cue on the 4th click makes sure I am totally aligned otherwise I re-render.
The dummy cue at the very beginning that I mark 'ready' is the one that keeps all the cues the same in all copies for cut/copy/paste actions.

Re: Copy & Paste Tip - Cue Shifting
Ok I just learned how to copy my show from one file to another. I used your idea of putting a cue to check my alignment and it is off a little bit. What im having trouble is finding how to shift the entire file slightly to realign the cues. Thanks for any help.
Re: Copy & Paste Tip - Cue Shifting
The trick is 2 cues. Put one cue on some beat. I do a 4 click count usually and put a cue on the 4th beat for a visual check.
But the trick is to put a cue, maybe call it 'Ready' and drag it all the way to the left.
Then when you highlight and select all the cues and paste them into new track they are perfectly aligned because the new paste will seek extreme left.
This is providing your new file is exact same length as the one you're copying from.

Re: Copy & Paste Tip - Cue Shifting
Thank you mwd. I'll give that a try. I've been using show buddy for quite awhile but just now learning more tricks and setting up better shows.
