SB 2.1.7 BETA (will I lose data if I update???)

I need help, I installed the latest update of SB on another computer so that I would have 2 computers with all my data incase of an emergency situation of 1 computer crashing on me. My original computer still has the previous version of SB before the latest 2.1.7 BETA update. After installing the new update on the new computer, my original SB will no longer give me the option to "Backup Data"??? Do I need to update my original computer as well to the latest SB Beta to backup my data?

Also, my biggest question is, if I update my SB on my original computer, will I lose any of my data by updating?

With this latest update of SB, you can backup everything using (.sab files). But the previous version when I would save all my data to a flashdrive, it backed up all my data as (.dbb files). So when I installed the latest version of SB on new pc, I tried restoring my saved (.dbb files) to the newest SB and it seems its not recognizing the (.dbb files)???

So I guess I'm asking, do I need to update my SB on original pc and "back up data" using the latest version so it will save my data as (.sab files), so then I can restore that data on new pc???

I'm just afraid to update SB on my original pc and LOSE EVERYTHING, then I'm screwed out of all that programming. Just want to ensure that if I update, all my data will be safe after updating. Please help, desperately need it! Thanks!
