Convert an MP4 or MOV to WEBM for pixel-mapped light shows?

I want my light show to compliment my videos and also save the time of synchronizing colors and beats. Can I convert my MP4 or MOV to WEBM for pixel-mapped light shows?

If so, is that DMX activity saved as a preset?
