Fixture numbers

Post by andy gibbs »

Can anyone tell me if there is an easy way of telling at a glance what number Dmx channels are assigned to a fixture. Many thanks.

Take a look at the DmxConfig.xml file. It lists all the fixtures and their starting point (from) and ending point (to) in a relatively simple format. Subtract 1 to get the DMX address.

In the "controls" tab, left click and hold the first fader of the fixture. Just above the faders will show the fader name and current value, the DMX output current value and the channel number, something like Pan: 0 | DMX 0 | Ch 81

A "dirty" fix is to rename your fixture to lead with its channel number - but that gets messy if you keep moving things around!

New to SBA (just purchased a few days ago), I am feeling this pain right now. :(

Why can't there be a row above or below the Controls > channel strip that shows the DMX address of each strip, seems like something that should obviously be there.

Is there a standard place here for feature requests? This seems like an easy one to implement.

Thanks!

Just click a fader to see its DMX channel number in the display. For example, this screenshot shows "Mover1" patched on channel 11

Yes, I see this. However, you can't just at a glance see which channel is which, you need to go clicking around. Would be great if there was an optional row that just showed the channel.
