Do fixture library downloads provide labeling solely?
Do fixture library downloads provide labeling solely?
Hi - I sadly bought a bunch of Lixada 8 channel pars. The fixture library downloads do not work with it. Does it matter though? Do the downloads just provide labeling?
Re: Do fixture library downloads provide labeling solely?
Yes, for the most part fixture libraries are just labels. They also provide meta data that is used for other DMXIS functions like Macros that need the label info to know what channels do what.
Other features that use the meta data for example, from the manual "Double-clicking on any named channel (e.g. “Red”) will automatically select ALL channels with that name on identical fixtures." This will of coarse only work if the channel is labeled, which is what happens when you load a fixture profile.
Each DMX channel will still output 0-255 on its related output when you move the fader up and down, regardless of whether there is a light fixture attached/assigned to the channel or not.

Thank you! Excellent response, and just what I needed to know.
