”Random” chases?

Post by adamfresk »

Is there a way to create chases that ”jump” between channels ”randomly”, rather than run across them in sequence?

I want to create a kind of randomly ”twinkling” effect, rather than waves across a continuous row of fixtures. It would be very helpful if this could be accomplished through the creation of some sort of automated, chase-type function (that can be triggered with a single midi note for example) rather than by creating a whole bunch of discrete scenes and jump between them (using the same number of different midi notes).

Is there any way to do this?

Try square wave chase, amount 100, shape 50 and fool with speed and chase until you like it.

Could that do it, perhaps? I thought the ”shape”-knob only adjusts the direction of the chase, from left-right to right-left, and that the ”chase”-knob adjusts the degree to which the fixtures play in sequence rather than simply simultaneously. But maybe setting the knobs to extreme values does something akin to what I’m after...

I’ll try that!

Thanks! :-)
