Abelton create midi tracks

Hello. I’m having a very frustrating problem. I wrote all the automation for my lights in Abelton and it works great but I’d like to make a playlist so I can interchange the songs any time easily. When I got to turn the automation into a midi clip it just opens up a new midi piano track on the channel so I cannot export or save the automation to move into the playlist view. Can anyone help? Oh
