Can someone advise which software to get ?
Hello,
I am looking to buy a interface to run my lights. I am new to DMX.
I run a music school and we put on shows with our students a few times a year in a small theatre.
I currently have 6 moving heads, 4 par cans, 3 Overhead Icolor4 quad washes, snow machine, Hazer & 1 follow spot.
I do sound at the same time.
I am looking for a software and hardware that will enable me to pre programme scenes for each song, and different effects during the show but with the least possible of hands on during the actual show apart from firing the scene for each song. But once it’s fired I would like to not have to do much.
Could you please advise which software and hardware would be best suited to me please?
Thank you Antoine

Re: Can someone advise which software to get ?
The standard DMXIS product would suit you well. Available from any Enttec retailer, or directly from www.enttec.com
You get both the hardware box necessary to connect your computer to your lights, and the software to program your lighting scenes. You can then trigger your scenes in a variety of ways, but the easiest methods are via a keyboard sustain pedal connected directly to the DMXIS hardware box, or from a small MIDI controller (something like a Korg nanoKontrol works well).

Thank you for your response.
So you can programme fade in/outs at different speeds etc before hand and then trigger it with a midi controller?

Re: Can someone advise which software to get ?
Yes - on the "Preset Manager" page of the software, you can set a different "Fade To Next" value for each preset scene. Then from your MIDI controller, you can advance sequentially through your banks & presets using a couple of buttons, or randomly access specific banks & presets if required.

Great, thank you very much.
Is the software for laptop and computers only or do you have it for iPad?

The program works on a Mac or Windows machine . You can however link to an iPad with the Touch OSC App.

Re: Can someone advise which software to get ?
I recommend going simple on the Foot Pedal - any 1/4" jack sustain pedal will work great!
Tutorial videos are on ENTTEC's site here: https://www.enttec.com/training-videos/
Thanks!

Yes, that would work fine for switching banks & presets.

Re: Can someone advise which software to get ?
Hello Dave,
I have bought the interface and i love it.
the only thing is i can't find my moving heads in the Fixtures library. Eurolite TMH-13 Moving-Head Spot type.
If there is no preset for it is there a way to name the channels manually?
thank you

Re: Can someone advise which software to get ?
Check the official online fixture library. If it's not already in there, you can create your own fixtures from the DMX table in your user manual.
