Getting my fixtures to show up in Show Buddy.

Post by richiecmusic3 »

Hello,
My name is Richie and I am not quite sure how to get the fixtures I have created from the fixture library to my Show Buddy. I do understand that once created, I will "export for DMXIS" but it leaves in a zip folder. I am not sure where to go from there. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

P.Q.
Is there a way to color code faders for easier grouping? And, I'd like to be able to rename faders even if they're unoccupied if possible. Is that possible?
-Thank You

Hi Richie,

You'll need to get them into the correct DMXIS folder, which varies whether you're on a PC or Mac: Full instructions are on this page: https://www.dmxis.com/creating-new-fixtures/

There is no color coding, and the only way I know of to label them is via creating custom fixture profile files.

Thanks!

I've just created a complex fixture file, and loaded it into Show Buddy Active. The fixture shows up in the visualizer, but moving the control faders don't seem to make anything happen (no lights or movement).

It's a Chinese beam bar light, and I have it set up for 38 CH operation. The starting address is Ch 217. One thing I noticed is that it inserted into the faders on CH1-CH38. It shows as 38 small squares horizontally across the top of the visualizer. Moving the faders up & down just illuminates the small squares - all the same color. It doesn't seem to emulate the light in any way.

What am I missing?

Hey Steve,

1st things 1st, you need to get it on the same channel you've addressed it to. By your description, you've set it to be channel 1 in Show Buddy Active. Delete it and then first click channel 217. Then, patch the light, and it should patch to 217.

Once you get it to the correct address, it will work if the profile is created correctly :) But, it definitely needs to be set there so you can find out.
