Setting fixtures to the same starting address.

Post by Mattlowe »

Hello everyone,

I have only just started using show buddy and can not for the life of me work out how to set the two or more fixtures to the same starting address.
I tried doing it individually, but was told that there was a fixture already at that address.

I then added two fixtures and told it to start at the same address. It then would run the same lights sequentially.
Say it was a 7 channel fixture.
I assigned them to channel 1
Fixture 1 would use channels 1 to 7
Fixture 2 would automatically use channels 8 to 14

Any advice on how to get them onto the same channels please?

Cheers

1. You can't configure different lights to the same DMX address. Its also generally a bad idea even if they use similar DMX profiles (i.e., RGB) as the lights will not generate the same output from the same DMX input values.

2. If you want to be able to do chases with a block of the same type of light they also have to be on different DMX addresses so that each light can be controlled individually, otherwise every light will turn on and off in unison.

3. If you actually want to run multiple lights in unison that is NOT done in show buddy, that is done by setting the starting address on the actual fixture to the same DMX address.
