For songs that I'm not using tracks for, I would love to have a feature in there that will still allow me to put in lyrics as memo's. Right now, I am creating 1 second blank "backing tracks" that are serving as placeholders for these songs. Since I can't fit a lot of words in a single memo, I have to create a lot of these placeholders for each song and as we progress through each part of the song, I advance to the next one second placeholder which contains another part of the songs lyrics.
For example for the song Toes from Zac Brown Band I have the following placeholders:
Toes Intro Chorus
Toes Verse 1
Toes Chorus
Toes Verse 2
Toes Chorus 2
etc.
So as you can see there are a lot of different placeholder tracks to accomplish this...meaning building shows is a pain in the backside!
Is there an easier way? If not, maybe we could get a new memo type added in the next addition. The memo type I'm thinking of would pause playback when it reaches the end of the memo until you click the spacebar or hit the footswtich to tell it to continue playback, then pause again at the end of the next memo. Then a single placeholder can hold all of the memo's for an entire song and we could just tell it when to advance. As you know, without backing tracks we might play a song differently each time so simply making a 4 minute blank placeholder and trying to guess where the memo's would go isn't a good method.
Of course, memorizing the lyrics is a great concept as well, except that I work 70 hours a week at my "real" job and my band adds 10 songs a week to our set list...all of us use lyric sheets or sheet music for the new songs until we're up to speed.
Pause at end of memo automatically?
Re: Pause at end of memo automatically?
Why not just make your blank song 10 seconds long (or whatever) and each of your memos 1 sec long ... you hit the footswitch to start the song and your first memo appears, you click again to pause .... when you run out of words you click again youre only going to have to wait less than 1 sec for the next words to show at which point you pause again .... Yes twice as many clicks, but surely beats having to load each memo as a new song !!

Re: Pause at end of memo automatically?
I quit using show buddy for lyrics. Now I use OnSong on my iPad triggered via MIDI from showbuddy. I have never been able to get the foots witch to work that well, have you? If so, what are you using? It plays fine, but the double tap to stop never works for me using the foot switch.
Re: Pause at end of memo automatically?
set the footswitch to one click stop, trying to double click a footswitch whilst performing is a no no ... its just too touchy to try and double tap within the time allowance ... just keep the switch out of the way so you dont accidently hit it during a song ...
I agree that the lyric arrangement on SB seems o be a bit of an afterthought and I hope beyond all hopes that the lyric system be seperated from memo/midi feature on a future version, (Ive posted seperately about this), personally I need lyric support singing songs in French and sometimes Spanish and having over 500 songs some of which only get aired once an year ... and Im getting old which doesnt help

Re: Pause at end of memo automatically?
I hear ya....when I was in my 20's I was able to learn and memorize songs in a day. Now I can "learn" them quickly, but rarely memorize songs anymore since I have work, kids, etc.
If you haven't tried the OnSong app, I would recommend it. ShowBuddy sends the MIDI command to bring up the song lyrics. I love it. Now I just need a bigger iPad instead of the mini for my aging eyes! Happy jamming!
