Re: Shape Macros and Moving Heads

It could be how the fixture itself responds to commands. I have several Intimidator Spot 255 IRC's and they can be jerky at times. Also, when moving in a circle (or any other shape for that matter), the DMX commands are discrete values somewhere between 0 and 255. Fixtures tend to 'jump' from one va...

Re: "Not quite" copying and pasting query

Here's a macro that will do what you're looking for** For the example, Channels 1, 2, and 3 are copied to 9, 10, and 11. Just edit the list to the channels you want to swap around. Copy the Macro into your Macro/Utility directory. I would suggest creating a new bank with 3 or 4 test presets to see i...

Re: Alternate Location of dmixs presets?

Search your computer for the DmxConfig.xml file. It's probably in C:\Users\Public\Documents\ENTTEC\DMXIS\Presets\
Your Banks and Presets will be where the DmxConfig.xml is.

Re: PROBLEM: "Offline - connect your DMXIS box!"

Try reloading the DMXIS software. There's a portion of the installation where after DMXIS is loaded, the FTDI drivers are loaded. Sounds like that portion of the install was skipped... though that doesn't explain why it worked one day and not the other. In any event, try a reload and watch for the p...

Re: Create a preset with multiple changes to individual channel of a fixture

Unfortunately, this isn't something DMXIS can do within one preset. This would take a series of presets to accomplish. I've been hoping to get this feature for quite some time. I added it to the Show Buddy Active Wish List a while ago. A simple controller like the Chauvet Obey 70 can do this. You ca...

SOLVED THE CHANGING TO BANK 2 UPON STOP ISSUE!!! :) You were right, cubase 10 pro was sending a program change of some sort. Here's how to fix it: Go to: Cubase, Preferences, MIDI,then down the right hand side in the grey box there's a section called Chase Events. Un-check 'Program Change'. Done :)...

Re: DMXIS 1.6.3 Crashes and Bank Bug

Re: Changing to Bank 2 Sounds like there might be some additional Midi info being sent when you hit the Stop on your DAW. DMXIS responds to Bank Change and Program Change commands regardless of channel. Try to take a look at all the Midi data being sent when you hit Stop. Not sure what to use on a M...

Re: Migration failure / data missing

Fixtures and midi assignments are defined in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\ENTTEC\DMXIS\Presets\DmxConfig.xml. It sounds like that file was either not copied over or the fixtures are not in the same directory as the original computer. The DmxConfig.xml file is a text file you can edit with NotePad++...

Re: Capture 2019 Student Edition as a free visualizer

However as we do not use backing or click tracks it initially appeared to me that SBA was perhaps overkill for our needs. But, if it provides a reasonable visualisor with the ability to load fixtures in the same manner as DMXIS then that would be fantastic. Show Buddy Active and Show Buddy are two ...

Yes, Programming lights can be quite maddening. Many times it's an "Alls I wanna do is... " scenario. I often find myself abandoning my original thought process to adapt to the limitations of the program.

If I want to move moving heads slowly, all I have is the fade to next function. Probably just tip of the iceberg for what you're trying to do... but maybe adjust the movers' Pan/Tilt speed settings (Ch 5 on a ADJ Intimidator 255 IRC)? As for other products, I don't use ONYX (Formerly MPC), but a lo...

Re: Oscillator problems.

Not sure if this will do what you need, but it might be worth a try... You could set a midi CC so it controls Osc type. When you want the light to go on, send a CC value that will set the osc type to Saw Down. When it reaches the bottom of the pattern, set the osc type to off... or you might be able...

Re: Wow, this is bad....

Are the Faders in DMXIS slowly changing during the fade, or do they change abruptly and it just takes a while for the fixtures to "catch up"? If the faders change abruptly, then it could be a setting on the fixture. A lot of fixtures have a configurable fade setting. This allows for smooth...

I don’t use clicks/backing tracks so would Show Buddy be any more beneficial? Show Buddy lets you design a light show along with backing tracks and such. Re: DMXIS and MIDI?

The biggest problem is that the ‘bars’ option is global? And that really screws things up. Which 'bars' option? The Bars setting in the fader window can be set per fader/per preset. It's MIDI CC value is global- so once it's assigned it will always respond to that CC. Personally, I don't have the B...

Re: MIDI Control - DMXIS will be last in chain

DMXIS responds to PC's via OMNI mode... so any PC you send will select a different preset in DMXIS regardless of channel. The preset selected in DMXIS corresponds to where it is in the bank. For example, in a given bank PC 0 selects the first preset, PC 1 selects the 2nd, PC 3 the third, etc... You ...

I'm using DMXIS and a DMC Ground Control (original) to control lighting exactly as you described. The Ground Control sends PC messages that load different presets. Re: How do you assign the midi channel for a fixture?

Each DMXIS fader corresponds to one DMX channel... so the first six faders would be DMX Ch 1 through 6. If you have a lighting fixture with a "personality" of 6 channels and that fixture is set to DMX Ch 1, then the first 6 DMXIS channels would control the fixture. If you have a second fix...

Re: Dmxis 5 pin and 3 pin

Yes, you can run 3 and 5 pin together. Just get a converter like THIS one.

The first three pins are the same between the 3 and 5 pin connector. The 5 pin connector has an extra set or data lines that probably aren't used by your LED strips. Check the manual to be sure.
