Re: MIDI question::::::::

Hey thanks that's interesting software. I'm not sure that solves the problem though as I usually use all 16 tracks for music. It could be useful for when I don't. I have some other last resort options, like recording the drums on an audio track on the keyboards' hard drive and freeing up those chan...

Re: Linking faders??

Hey, so I got this to work but it seems like when I adjust amount and chase it gets out of sync. I run a dotz tpar in 18 channel mode. Channels 1-12 are the RGB channels for lights 1-4. Would it be possible to create a "virtual fixture" for channel 19 that would act as a dimmer for light 1. Then an...

Re: Daylight Bulb

Unfortunately that question is unanswerable. It will depend entirely on the light fixture(s) your using. There are RGB, RGBAW, W-only, etc. etc. etc. every single fixture will have a different combination of settings to get to specific white balance. Some will achieve that balance better than others...

Re: Bank and Preset changes not responding correctly

What your looking for is a MIDI processor, to filter out the cc32. http://www.midisolutions.com/prodevp.htm ... not exactly. He wants to select banks. Therefore he needs the CC32, or in the alternative, Note-On's for Ch15. Apparently the notes aren't that easy to come by from the built-in programs ...

Re: Preset order in 1.5.7

You can modify each show (bank) XML file with a text editor allowing you to organize alphabetically. Since the OP would need to edit 150 XML files, it's simpler to drag & drop the banks from the DMXIS interface. Should only take a couple of minutes, and it's a one-off task. Sorry, clearly if its th...

Re: Light Changing DMX Channel

If it is in fact actually changing DMX channels, then you have a defective light. There are no settings that would cause this. This would also mean you are also completely losing control of the light, (unless it is changing to a DMX channel in use by another light), but that seems pretty unlikely i...

Re: DMXIS loosing control of lamps

Not a direct answer but might be useful in tracking down the issue. If you install the Developer Tools there is an application in /Developer/Applications/Utilities called USB Prober that will let you do real-time monitoring of the USB ports. although as a note: Beware when installing IOUSBFamily log...

Re: ADJ Hex Bar Changing DMX Channels Randomly

It has to be a faulty light.

There is nothing in the signal chain that will change DMX channels on a fixture.

Re: Chauvet 4Bar

Yes, your right, there is no control of speed via DMX.

There is a menu option via the control panel that will let you set the speed of the automatic programs, but you can only set the speed manually.

Re: Chauvet 4Bar

I'm assuming your talking about the original "4-bar". I took a look at the DMX 15 channel configuration listed in the manual and I don't see anything related to speed other than the strobe. Its possible that the strobe speed will also control the program speed, but the only way to tell would be to t...

Re: DMXIS NORTON WARNING!

Production machines should not be connected to the internet and should also not have any anti virus software running on them. A production machine should be treated like a stand-alone dedicated box. The fact that it is a general purpose computer is only incidental. Production machines in fact should...

Re: Preset Ordering

It would be nice to be able to reference by name, but it becomes massively more complicated to code.

All names have to be unique and you'd have to have a way to pass the name. Midi is not really designed to do this efficiently.

presets slots are sequentially ordered 0 to xxxx, you can move any preset into a different slot, but the slot number doesn't change.

So yes you understand the ordering.

Re: Controlling different PAR cans at different venues

I can't help (right off the bat) for #1 and #2 but for #3 look into the D-Split (it's ENTEC) box to allow both rigs to be physically separate yet respond to the same DMXIS box. Its not just the physical connection, its also where its located and do you have access. The existing lights could be DMX ...

Re: Controlling different PAR cans at different venues

You've got part of the solution. What your missing is the venues lights are not going to start on DMX channel 300 and your not going to be able to change the lights settings. In order to make this work, you will need the following for each venue. 1. The DMX configuration of each light (how many chan...

Re: dmxis problem

1. Check each light individually before connecting them all together. You can do this without changing the DMX channel. 2. Make sure your using proper DMX cables and that each cable works. 3. To check all the cables together, connect them all in a chain to a single light and make sure that works. 4....

DMXIS / Chauvet D-Fi Project

Been working on streamlining the lighting setup for my band. The DMXIS is really great product, but the hardware box is lacking any physical mounting options, so I decided to create my own solution. Part of the solution was consolidating all of our lighting to a single wireless protocol (so I switch...
