DMXIS not listening to TouchOSC

I know I'm missing something simple. I have a DMXIS box which I am trying to get to respond to a TouchOSC MIDI layout. The TouchOSC layout is working because I have MIDI monitor showing the MIDI being generated by the TouchOSC layout. In DMXIS preferences I control banks with MIDI notes set to MIDI ...

Re: Development Releases Nov 2023 - feedback thread

HELLO....... I have gotten the latest versions of DMXIS (1.7.4) and Show Buddy Active (2.2.6) running on my MacBook Air. I can't get Show Buddy Setlist running because I can't find my license! Where do I get it from???? Also, I'd like to move all of the data from my iMac over to the MacBook Air. Whe...

BIG problem!!!

I was just showing someone my skills with setting up lighting. My ALL time favorite song, Black Magic Woman and one I've spent YEARS getting right with lasers and flame towers, besides 60 fixtures, is is now a shambles. Conservatively it has between 400 and 500 queues The music sounds like it is fro...

Beam directions

Hi folks! It has been a seriously long time since I've been on the forums, health and family stuff, but that aside I have a very simple question. I have moving head spots that show the beam directions but I can't seem to get the moving head washes to work the same way. I remember it was some simple ...

Re: Show Buddy 1.7

Copy/Paste I have had some extra pasted cues show up when I paste cues. They show up a ways from where I'm pasting and they are usually a duplicate of one of the cues I'm pasting. Also have had some issues with presets changing values. Only happens when I go beyond 30 presets in a bank. What is the ...

Re: Trouble grabbing the right cue

I agree bigtime! Minor tips; Click on a cue and when moving a front edge position it in between the ring and little finger of the hand cursor. When moving the rear edge position try to position it around the middle finger of the cursor. If you have an edge that has other cue edges or points nearby, ...

Re: Show Buddy 1.7

Hey Dave, Some issues; If you are in SBS and change to a different sound channel (I have a 14 track DSP unit) so if you started with 11 and 12 as your output and switch to 13 and 14 you have to quit and restart to get the change to work. The File menu hangs sometimes, you open the file menu and sele...

Re: Multi colored chases

Hey Brattbugg, Yes, it can be done. What you need to do is duplicate the chase that is turning your pars on and off. So for instance you have channels on your pars that are red, green, blue, amber and dimmer. In this example we'll use 4 of the pars. When you set up your oscillator you will select th...

Re: Rookie - Best Practices

I second the masking, BUT be aware that if you use masking a lot, like I do, you can get pretty complicated shows. In the example mikevar94 gives you could set up a preset that disables the mask for everything but the mover. You set the preset up to scroll to the correct gobo/color with the dimmer o...

Re: Bank names

Hey Brattbugg, Simple Answer, no. I just tried doing that and SB threw up. I was changing a Bank Name from DeadMansParty to DMP to help me better set the cues and not go blind looking at the tags. As soon as I changed the name, when I went back to editing I got a VERY long list of all the cues that ...

MIDI issues

Having some trouble with MIDI chunks keeping their identity and contents. I have 11 songs that have corresponding videos. To get the videos to fire off in sync with SB I've created MIDI chunks that are specific to each of the clips. The video player needs to have 3 MIDI CCs sent over each with a 0 v...

Editing shows

First; Been using Show Buddy, Show Buddy Active, DMXIS, D-Pro, etc. for over 6 years. So I'm a fan, BUT, the one thing that I've always had trouble with is editing the lengths and fade-in/fade-out points. I will get a fairly complex set put together (I use masking a lot) with 3 - 5 edit boxes in clo...

Still looking for MIDI file help

I've still been trying to figure out how the "Export lightshow to midi file" works. I've been able to load the file into a couple of different DAWs (Maschine 2, Studio One 4) but it appears as if the file is way too short for the show. One of my shows is about 30 minutes long and the expor...

Hey neilnotts,

Just used your macro to move about a dozen fixtures and so far everything is beautiful. This is across 32 banks with up to 32 presets.
Great piece of coding for sure. Many thanks!!!!!

BAH!! Mojave strikes again! As with some other hardware/software issues I have had doing a restart doesn't fix it. Needed to do a shutdown and restart of the iMac then all was happy. Lost my DMXIS box!!!

Turned on my lights to do some cueing and Show Buddy says there is no hardware! Check out the box and it's blinking. If I unplug the DMX feed to the lights they start going into show mode. There is DMX signal to the fixtures. But Show Buddy, SBA and DMXIS say there is no connection. This is not good...

Audio and Show Buddy/Active

Hi all, I have 6 songs put together in Show Buddy driving SBA. Works really nice now that I figured out how to get the tracks to play continuously. But I can't get the audio to interact with SBA. I can't get the BPM to change automatically and I can't get the audio to drive any of the channels where...

MIDI Export and SB Issues

How exactly is the MIDI data written out when using the Export Lightshow to MIDI command? Is there a way to get individual songs written to a MIDI file? I tried looking at the file in Abelton live but I don't understand how 2 different channels can be written without some sort of distinction in the ...

Re: Saving Presets

Whoops...
All the dimmers are in the channel range of 65 to 186. The 133 value comes from the dimmer channels also have strobing and an open function from 134 to 255 so to get smooth fading between presets I need to keep the channel values between 0 and 133.

Saving Presets

I need to change all the dimmer values in my show so I wrote the following: val = 0 for ch in range(65,186): nm = GetChName(ch) if nm=="Dim": SelectCh(ch, 1) val = GetChVal(ch) if val > 133: SetChVal(ch,133) else: SelectCh(ch, 0) This worked fine but I needed to iterate over 36 Banks with ...

Re: Using Part of a Channel

If only..... The only other option is 14 channel and the dimmer channel is exactly the same. The stuff 'm designing has the dimmer channel by itself. If I had the schematic of the board and the chip they're using I might give it a shot but I think setting all the presets to fall under the top value ...

Re: Using Part of a Channel

I kind of came to the same conclusion that I'd have to go in and modify all the Presets. (YUK) Although I'm toying around with doing it using python. Luckily it's only 8 fixtures that have this issue and that should considerably lessen the pain. And being an old coder first thing I'll do is back eve...

Using Part of a Channel

I have some fixtures which have multiple functions on them, in particular, dimmer channels with strobe functions. So on one of these channels the DMX range from 0 - 100 is for dimmer functions, 101 - 255 is for strobing and other functions. Can a fixture be designed to only send out a DMX range and ...
