Re: Override show with manual control board

Assuming you are using the Show Buddy Active plugin within Cubase, you can use any external MIDI controller (e.g. an Akai MPC Mini) to manually control the SBA plugin during songs which are not fully programmed. Just make sure Cubase passes the incoming MIDI data onto the SBA plugin. (The display in...

The underlying DMX protocol is not accurate enough to do reliable strobing. See this article for more information : https://www.dmxis.com/dmx-jitter

Show Buddy Active 2.2.5 changes (from 2.2.4) Don't allow dragging of faders while ctrl or shift is held down. This can lead to accidental edits of multiple channels. Prevent videos from resta...

Re: Help with DMXIS firmware

I hope you find a solution. But as far as I know, the firmware was embedded into the ENTTEC Pro Manager, they never made it available as a separate file. If you can’t fix your DMXIS box and want to save your programmed DMXIS shows, you can easily import all your DMXIS data into Show Buddy Active (my...

Re: Basic question about MIDI control

You can load any bank or preset by sending MIDI Notes on MIDI channels 15/16. You can also trigger the button panel at the bottom of the Perform tab with notes on channel 1.

You can customise this MIDI behaviour from the Preferences window.

Did you make any progress?

I forgot to mention, when converting videos for Show Buddy Active, always use the VP8 encoder for webm, NOT the VP9 encoder.

VP8 is far more efficient to decode and less demanding on your computer than VP9.

Re: Development Releases Nov 2023 - feedback thread

Thanks for the feedback all. Here is an important note on video support! With SBA now supporting higher resolutions of video output (up to 1920x1080) it's more important than ever to make sure your videos are encoded efficiently. SBA can play back VP8 and VP9 video. However, I highly recommend you e...

Re: Multiple instances in Ableton Live

The Show Buddy Active plugin is designed to be instantiated once in a project (usually the Master FX rack).

Incidentally, DMXIS was also designed to be used as a single instance. I'm quite surprised you didn't run into problems using multiples.

Start the Show Buddy Active app, and choose File > Import DMXIS Data... from the main menu.

You'll need to spend a bit of time then laying out the fixtures on the visualiser. Also, some of your fixture definitions might need tweaked to work properly with the visualiser.

Something I forgot to add to the release notes - the SBA macro engine has been upgraded from Python 2.6 to Python 3.10 . So if you have custom macros that no longer work, it's probably due to a Python syntax change. One such change is with print . Previously, print "Hello" would work fine....

Re: Complex lighting programs

That's a really exciting project! For this type of automated show, I would chop the audio track into manageable 3-4 minute chunks, and import the chunks into the Track Library. Then, program the lighting separately for each chunk. 100+ cues should not present any performance issues with shorter audi...

Re: Complex lighting programs

Can I ask why you need 100+ cues in a song? The usual approach I recommend is to build the complexity of your lighting cues into the Show Buddy Active presets (making good use of oscillators, Effects and pixel mapping for any dynamic lighting requirements) . Then, assembling the final song in Show B...
