Re: Multoplevmidi controllers

You probably need to configure the second controller to transmit on a different MIDI channel. You may be able to do this with the Novation template editor?

Perfectly safe, so long as you install the latest DMXIS 1.6.3 software.

Re: Individual light control

Are you using 8 separate DMX lights, or an 8 way dimmer pack?

If separate lights, perhaps you haven't configured each light with its own unique DMX start address?

Re: Erratic Cues in Logic

I am preprogramming a light show in Logic Pro X. I can't trigger the right Bank. I have the channel on 15 and the note on C2, but it won't recognize the right song in the Bank, but rather the last song. In Logic, 'C2' is note number 48, which will trigger DMXIS bank 48. You need to scroll down in t...

Re: DMX output with no live parameters

The fixture profile can contain a default value for each channel. This default value is transmitted to DMX output, even when no cues or cuelists are running. In this case, I would guess that Pan & Tilt defaults are 50%.

You can't change the channels within DMXIS. But you can use a MIDI utility like MidiPipe (Mac) or MIDI-OX (PC) to modify the MIDI channels before passing the data onto DMXIS.

Re: Trigger light on/off from audio noise/silence

First, route the audio into DMXIS (using the Audio/MIDI preferences in the DMXIS standalone, or by routing audio within your DAW to the DMXIS plugin). Then select the DMXIS faders you want to be triggered by audio, and turn up the Sound Tracker Level knob. Play about with the remaining Sound Tracker...

Re: Double Click selecting across different light fixtures

Show Buddy Active can accommodate setups with hundreds of fixtures and thousands of RGB pixels. The two-step scheme (select fixtures in visualiser, double-click to select faders on those fixtures) is a simple way to allow direct channel manipulation of larger rigs.

Re: Show Control - slow loading and 'not responding'

You have to first delete the button contents, then change the number of tabs in the Preferences window.

For speed you can shift-click the buttons in config mode and delete them in one action.

Note that you cannot delete specific tabs, you can only change the total number of tabs.

I imagine that's the problem. Every tab is pre-loaded into memory simultaneously. It's generally better to use a separate .dsf file for each gig.

Re: Show Control - slow loading and 'not responding'

When the Show Control window is opened, all the cues & cuelists are preloaded into memory. While this can take a bit of time for complex shows, it means that at showtime you get snappy, reliable response times when switching cues. Keeping your dsf project files on fast solid state storage can improv...

Re: Reverse The direction of a chase

Just select the channels, then set the Chase knob to the upper half of its range.

For example, if you have 8 channels selected:
  • The Chase range is 0.0-8.0.
  • 0.0-4.0 runs chases in one direction.
  • 4.0-8.0 runs chases in the opposite direction.

Stress tests here with the same setup don't reveal any lockups. Since you're seeing them regularly, there's a good chance it is related to your fixture setup or show design. If you zip up this folder and send it to me, I'll run some stress tests with your actual data... /Library/Application Support/...
