Re: Moving banks and presets to a new show

I think that will be difficult. If your 3-channel fixtures were, say, 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 then changing to 5-channel means you'll have to be 1-5, 6-10, 11-15 etc. Probably easier to start again than try to change everything to 1-3, 6-8, 11-13 first!

Re: Footswitch Latency Issue

Maybe check the "double-click" setting for the footpedal under [show][footpedal]. DMXIS has to wait that long after a single click before it "knows" there's not a second click coming. Shortening the setting with reduce the delay, but will make double-clicking harder!

Don't you just save the show with a new name?

Re: Superimposing cues in a cuelist

I think you need 4 presets:
1 - background up
2 - spot on (masked so only the spot channel(s) is/are affected - that's the key bit)
3 - spot off (masked as 2)
4 - all off

Re: Limiting Effects in a preset

I don't use Effects, but this might have something to do with whether the FX ON button is on or off in each preset.

Have you sorted this? If not, I can probably help writing a fixture profile.

Re: Fixture Library - Where Is It ?!

As Dave lists above, the files go in: C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\db-audioware\Show Buddy Active\DmxLibrary I created a "my fixtures" folder and put all the profiles for my fixtures in there as it's simpler when adding fixtures. Some profiles were copied from the manufacturer's folder...

Re: Masking or No?

With banks of presets that only work on one of your "blocks" - to change the overall look of the stage you would need to choose one preset for each block - parcans, strip, laser, etc. If you like the outcome you could then run the "enable all channels" macro and then save the pre...

Re: Masking or No?

I don't know about using midi, but I use masking in this way. Set up presets with only the channels for one of your 'groups' active and all others inactive. My guess is they would have titles like "par cans red", "par cans magenta", "strip blue" etc. You could drag them...

Just checking

Just checking (and disappointed if right, having just spent £160) if you have presets from different banks copied down to the performance buttons, only the buttons referring to the currently "active" bank will operate and all the rest just sit there doing nothing? If I'm right, that means ...

Re: Set the Offset to the same value in multiple channels at once?

I understand that, and I think you have found the solution. However - can't the same lighting effect be achieved with all required fixtures set to offset zero? I may well be misunderstanding here - as I don't have anything like the rig you must have! Good luck!

Re: Set the Offset to the same value in multiple channels at once?

Not sure I understand what you are trying to do. If you want several fixtures to behave identically I think you just leave offset at zero.

Re: Last Preset

Ah - I see. Within the banks and presets that would be tricky. Solutions seem to be either putting all the presets in one bank (messy if more than a dozen or so), or copying key presets to the performance buttons so you can have a few columns of backlight buttons, a few of fronts, etc.

Surely if your scenes are masked correctly selecting a different front scene will leave the back scene unchanged?

Re: How to create a one-shot fade trigger? (light pulse)

Just tried that in DMXIS and you're right - it does the same thing. Once a fade is running it continues, even if there's a change of preset. I'd never needed changes that fast, or at least not with fades.

Re: How to create a one-shot fade trigger? (light pulse)

I'm only learning on SB, but with DMXIS I'd go the 2 preset route. "Full on" with a fade out time for the fade required, "Full Off" with zero fade time so even if you click "Full On" during the fade it will jump the fixture immediately back to full. Pity there isn't a w...

Re: Is it possible to write Tilt Automation to MIDI?

I don't know about midi - but could you not mask the tilt value in "lots" of your presets and only leave it active in certain key ones? That way a change from, say 0 to 45 degrees of tilt, which might take a second or two depending on the fixture, could continue whilst any of the masked pr...

Re: Same DMX address for multiple fixtures?

You wouldn't need to change anything for your rig to work how you want, just the visualiser will only show half the fixtures. If your rig is "mirrored" then the visualiser might show enough for you to work out new presets.

Re: Flash button

As an extension to this, how about each performance button can have two "modes". First is as now - click the button and you get that preset. If button is set to "mode 2" (or "flash" or "instantaneous") it selects that preset only while held. When released, the...

A "dirty" fix is to rename your fixture to lead with its channel number - but that gets messy if you keep moving things around!

Re: Fixture numbers

In the "controls" tab, left click and hold the first fader of the fixture. Just above the faders will show the fader name and current value, the DMX output current value and the channel number, something like Pan: 0 | DMX 0 | Ch 81

Re: Channel Masking Show Buddy Active

I use a set of masked presets for each fixture or group which I can "add" together to create a scene. Thus I might select "spots - white" for the performer's main light (s), "tint - red" for some warmth and "background-magenta". Even with just a handful of pre...

Same DMX address for multiple fixtures?

Apologies if this has been asked or answered before. It's possible to have two (or more) identical fixtures on the same DMX address, so they work as one. Is it possible to display this in the visualiser ... every new fixture comes in on a new address and I can't see how to set/edit the DMX address?

Fixture Definition and visualiser problem

Hi - I'm a fairly experienced DMXIS user and am just trying out the demo version of ShowBuddy. I'm used to writing fixture definitions and have successfully imported these into SB, except one will not display any "light" in the visualiser. The fixture is one of those cheap "party ball...
