Re: Basic feature request - Delay times in cuelists
Give QLab a look. It actually has internal handling of DMX now, though it didn't when we first started using it. We're still using D-Pro for lighting with it since we're familiar with D-Pro and as of when we last compared, D-Pro was easier to handle movers and effects like color fans, etc - though t...

Re: Basic feature request - Delay times in cuelists
I guess I have the drawback of never having used a theatre lighting desk :) all of my experience is with D-Pro. We use QLab to trigger our cues, not just lighting but also mics, projections, sounds, etc. So what you're trying to accomplish, is something we'd do with two separate cuelists in D-Pro an...

Re: Feature Request - Page Number controlled in OSC in SC window
I see, so if you OSC something from a tab, you want that tab made visually active in Show Control. I guess fundamentally, it depends on how you're using D-Pro. For us, D-Pro is a "Black Box" at the point of the show. We do have Show Control Player up as an "Emergency Override" an...

Re: Feature Request - Page Number controlled in OSC in SC window
You can control multiple tabs via OSC. You just put the tab number in the command, so /sc/fade/run/6/8 "0.3" sets tab 6, row 8 fader to 30%. /sc/snap/run/3/2/4 "1" turns on the snapshot on tab 3, row 2, column 4.

Re: Not displaying the controller numbers in the SC window
Not possible, last I knew. We switched from MIDI to OSC about a year ago, so we don't have MIDI assignments any more but at that point, at least, we would see the assignments in Show Control.

Yeah, also I'm not clear on what it is you're wanting. We fade cues in and out all the time... not sure what it is you're wanting that's different. Can you post a sample .dsf file maybe?

Compare that to this cue: Screen Shot 2020-03-09 at 10.38.32 AM.png It's basically the same cue, but all of the attributes are active (green) so will set to what it says. This is a very helpful feature in that it lets me "Set up" a fixture - direction, gobo, color, movement - THEN bring up...

Re: Sticking Attributes
The thing to keep in mind, is if you set an attribute and don't change it - for the most part it remains set. Look at this programmer cue for example: Screen Shot 2020-03-09 at 10.35.53 AM.png The Dimmer is SET to 0%, and Focus is set to 0%. The Position is also set. Note that Dimmer, Position, and ...

Re: Feature request for venue installs
I like the idea of being able to instantiate the full programmer from the player, without a complete reset. I have no idea how complicated that would be and what programming pitfalls Dave might encounter - what I don't want, is a less stable Player as a result :D but if it can be done, I think it'd ...

Re: Catalina Isn't Going Away, So...

You can certainly run D-Pro without Internet access. I believe it will need Internet in order to validate/install the product key however. Dave can say for sure. But if you can connect the computer to Internet for the installation, you should be fine.

Hello HattyCurll - it wasn't clear if you were asking me or Andy that question. Are you using D-Pro alone, or are you also using QLab? Screenshots, if you can provide them, might help.

Re: Just bought D-pro today, question about functionality.
You have the option of grouping buttons into "Radio buttons", where turning one turns off the others - or not, where you can have multiple buttons on at once. For my theater, it depends on who's programming :) one guy prefers to have each button control the ENTIRE scene, and he uses radio ...

Re: Trigger Dpro show control from an MP4
We'll sometimes do synchronized lights to sound and/or video in our theater. We use an application called QLab regardless of whether it's synced or manually cued, QLab runs all of our sound effects - mic cues - video cues - and lighting cues. We use OSC for D-Pro cueing, but if they're on the same c...

Re: Show Control - slow loading and 'not responding'
What we’ve done is create a template DSF file that we use to start each show. The template has all of our fixtures in it, and any effects that we tend to use quite a lot. But then we build each show from that, and then delete the show (or archive it) when we’re done with it. Then we go back to the o...

Re: Show Control - slow loading and 'not responding'
I definitely don't see times of "A few minutes" when opening - maybe 20 seconds if it's a pretty complex show? I'm using a Mac Mini (dual-core i7, 16GB RAM, latest OS) but it does have SSD.
The computer is dedicated to lighting, we control it from another Mac using OSC.

Re: External Control of Programmer
As far as I'm aware, there's no way to access Programmer via MIDI - just Show Control. If you want it for programming, really no option for that. But, it might be possible to control pan/tilt from MIDI during a show in a couple of different ways. Maybe the "Override Behavior" on page 42 of...

Re: Feature Request: Open the Show Control Window multiple times
Oh, I see - so by using a "Control surface" you mean directly controlling multiple instances of Show Control on the computer itself, not using an external surface like an ENTTEC Wing to manipulate it. Well, I don't think it's something we'd use - but I understand more about what you're ask...

Re: Feature Request: Open the Show Control Window multiple times
Phil, I'm just a D-Pro user so no clue if that's feasible or not. But we use Show Control directly, and externally (not using a surface, but using an app on a different computer - QLab via OSC). That works fine for us, you can of course see in Show Control any external changes and you can also make ...

Re: Feature Request: Control Any Slider Through Submaster Faders
We've made separate Submaster sliders for each channel on our dimmer rack, so we can directly control them as needed. It took a bit of time but it's now saved as a Template that we start with for each show, so once it's done it's done. The thought was that we'd use those to then make Snapshots, and ...

Re: D-pro and OS 10.6.8
Not speaking for Dave, maybe there is some ancient version of D-Pro that would run on 10.6.8 - but that version came out YEARS ago, so I doubt it. A MacBook Pro from 2009 would be able to run OS X El Capitan, 10.11.6. The only MacBook Pros that are limited to 10.6.8 are from 2006. You can still get ...

We made the plunge unintentionally, someone was tired of seeing the "Upgrade" prompts I guess. But I'd already tested it pretty extensively on another computer so we left it on Mojave rather than restoring a backup, and not seeing any problems.

Or maybe, for #1 send an Off and then a very short (0.1 second) delay send an On? It's pretty easy in QLab, just create a group and put both commands in there, with a 0.10 second pre-wait on the On.

Re: Feature requests
For #1, I don't know of a good solution - I assume you're positioning movers before turning them on, something like that? If you send a 1.0 (on) to a button, and then you send it again, it doesn't re-do the command. What we do, is set up our positioning commands in a "Radio Group" so as we...

Re: Moving D-Pro to separate computer
For anyone who's trying to do the same thing at some point :) I've learned a bit about it. In QLab, you're going to do a "Custom OSC Message". You will mostly follow the D-Pro manual, with a few very important differences. Basically, when using QLab at least, the value you send must be a d...
