Fixtures and midi assignments are defined in the C:\Users\Public\Documents\ENTTEC\DMXIS\Presets\DmxConfig.xml. Yes, Programming lights can be quite maddening. Many times it's an "Alls I wanna do is... " scenario. I often find myself abandoning my original thought process to adapt to the limitations of the program.

No macro needed. Just select the faders you want adjust then use the up and down arrows to inc/dec their value.

Each DMXIS fader corresponds to one DMX channel... so the first six faders would be DMX Ch 1 through 6. If you have a lighting fixture with a "personality" of 6 channels and that fixture is set to DMX Ch 1, then the first 6 DMXIS channels would control the fixture. Yes, you can run 3 and 5 pin together. Just get a converter like THIS one.

The first three pins are the same between the 3 and 5 pin connector. The 5 pin connector has an extra set or data lines that probably aren't used by your LED strips. Check the manual to be sure.

Lights communicate via DMX. Midi is a different protocol. Midi controllers can not talk directly to lighting fixtures. Midi signals can be converted in to DMX via DMXIS. Using Dave's macro is the way to go.

All you need to do is download it then place it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\ENTTEC\DMXIS\Macros\Utility directory.

After it's there, start DMXIS, then click 'macro' and navigate to the Mirror Image macro in menu tree.

You can also use Midi Bank Select and Program Change to select individual Banks and Presets in DMXIS. These work in omni mode (any channel).

DMXIS will only work with the DMXIS hardware box Correct. SBA on the other hand is not hardware locked and will work with other DMX interfaces. Both USB to DMX and Artnet. Yes, SBA will work with others. I used a generic USB to DMX Interface Adapter DMX512 I got off eBay for around $16.

Just discovered the magic of momentary cues...think I may have answered my own question!

I'm intrigued by these "Momentary Cues". I can't seem to find anything in the DMXIS manual about them. When I search for 'momentary' in the manual it yields no results. Are they a hidden feature in DMXIS?

The DmxConfig.xml file shows channel numbers for each fixture.

I also run the DMXIS stand alone application, so I can't directly help much with the VST plugin.

There are some good videos out there that talk about using DMXIS as a VST plugin. THIS LINK isn't specifically for Cubase, but the principles might be applicable.
